Glay Expo 1999 Survival – Makahuri Messe

Glay is a rock band from Japan that composes songs in the genres of rock and pop. It was originally a Visual Kei band and they have been doing music since 1988.

The band holds an exposition called Glay Expo. The first Glay Expo was on 31st July 1999. It was at Makuhari Messe and had an audience of 200,000 people. Guinness world records certified it as the concert with most tickets in a single performance.

The show set a record, not just for the number of tickets sold. It was also a venue of great cheer and energy. Even though the band was already famous, this concert earned them even more fame beyond Japan. It also set the platform for them to hold future events, an exceptionally high bar to work with.

Follow Up Events

In 2001, there was the second exposition. The 2001 Expo was categorized in four performances. Two were held In Tokyo, another one in Ishikari and in Fukuoka there was an all-night performance. The 2001 concert had an audience of more than 280,000 people. Fuel produced from solar energy and energy from wind was used in the Ishikari concert.

Glay keep outdoing themselves, at one time selling 100, tickets within 15 minutes of launching.
